Mike O. Two rooms, one voice.

Mike did not need another website. He needed each of his two names to know what job it was doing.

The assignment

We brought Mike O the Poet back as the living home for the work, then rebuilt THISISMIKEO as the clear, restrained introduction people often meet first in search. The two sites no longer compete. One opens the door; the other carries the catalogue.

01 / Challenge

What was actually in the way.

The sparse site was not the problem. The ambiguity was. People searching for Mike could arrive at THISISMIKEO and mistake an older, quieter site for the whole story, while the newly resurrected mikeothepoet.com held the work that was still moving.

02 / Approach

The decision that organized the rest.

We treated the names as two rooms in the same house. THISISMIKEO became the composed front room: a human introduction, a short conversation, and an unmistakable handoff. Mike O the Poet remained the king—the place for poetry, films, writing, and booking. Restraint became the navigation system.

03 / Outcome

What became easier afterward.

A modern search-facing introduction now points attention toward the flagship without feeling like an ad for it. Behind the pages, a phone-first Studio makes every word and image editable, and a complete legacy skin remains one latch away.

01 / The truth

One person had become two search results.

Both names were real. Both domains mattered. The mistake would have been asking them to carry the same weight. Mike O the Poet is where the body of work belongs. THISISMIKEO is the moment before that—the eye contact, the context, the reason to keep walking.

02 / The system

Give each room one job.

The new introduction borrows the rhythm of an editorial spread: large type, confident empty space, a few images allowed to hold the frame, and short passages that sound like a person. Every path toward current work crosses into mikeothepoet.com. There is no duplicate feed to maintain and no second inbox pretending to be useful.

03 / The machine

Make the calm easy to keep.

A quiet site can still have a complicated life behind it. We built the opposite: static pages that need no Node server, a Studio designed for one hand on a phone, versioned releases, and an atomic skin latch. Mike can change a line, place a photograph, publish, or return to the original WordPress look without dismantling anything.
